A six-week overnight wilderness camp for girls and boys, ages 7-14, on Upper Chateaugay Lake in New York's Adirondack Mountains.

Founded in 1925 and continued under the same family ownership, Tanager Lodge has engaged campers and staff in a small, non-competitive community dedicated to wilderness appreciation, life skills, and individual growth for over 80 years.

Summer 2008

This season, we will open on June 28th and 29th and close August 9th & 10th. Tuition for the six weeks is $4,200.

*Old-timers will note the change from seven to six weeks. We hope this will give families greater flexibility with their summer scheduling while allowing us to achieve our program goals.

Thanks to Tsering Yangzom for this terrific 5-minute story on Tanager Lodge Tibetan Camp. It was first broadcast on NPR on October 16, 2007, the day before the Dalai Lama received the Congressional Gold Medal.
